Kiera Miller, Level 10, class of 2016

Kiera Noelle Miller was born on December 29, 1997 in Neenah, Wisconsin

to Jerome and Traci Miller.  She has a younger brother, Keegan, and a dog, Brody.

Kiera is a junior at Oshkosh West High School.  She is very driven academically and has maintained a 4.0 GPA (out of 4.0) since sixth grade.

Currently, Kiera's class rank is first out of 392 juniors at Oshkosh

West High School.

In her spare time, Kiera enjoys spending time with her family and friends, many outdoor activities like going to the beach, hiking and camping, traveling, and doing a variety of arts and crafts.  She loves animals and in 2013 started volunteering at the Fox Valley Humane Society.

At the age of 1-1/2, Kiera started gymnastics classes.  Her parents thought it would be fun to do a "Mommy and Me" class together. Little did they know that would start an ongoing passion and year round classes for the sport of gymnastics!  Kiera has tried several other sports but none have sparked the interest that gymnastics does.

2004 was the start of competitive gymnastics for 6 year old Kiera.  She experienced much success as a compulsory level gymnast.  Kiera swept the 2005 Level 4 Wisconsin State Championships and won gold medals in the all-around and other events.  Again, in 2006 as a level 5 gymnast, Kiera placed first all-around and on floor exercise at the State Championships.  For the 2007 Wisconsin State Championships, as a level 6 gymnast, Kiera placed fifth all-around despite minimal practice time (she did levels 6 and 7 back to back and only a few hours weekly were spent on level 6 routines).

Kiera started competing optional level gymnastics in 2008.  At the Level 7 WI State Championships, she finished third in the all-around and floor exercise.  In 2009, Kiera competed as a level 8 gymnast. She earned first place on floor exercise in Orlando at the Sand Dollar/Whitlow Invitational. Kiera qualified to Regionals at the 2009 WI State Championships, after taking fifth on floor exercise and sixth all-around.  At the Level 8 Regional Championships, she won first place on uneven bars and seventh all-around.

Kiera moved up to level 9 in 2010. She started her 2010 season at the WCGC Winter Luau finishing second on balance beam, third on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around.  At the Blizzard Invitational, she placed second on floor exercise, third in the all-around and uneven bars.  Kiera earned second place in the all around, uneven bars and balance beam at Midwest Twisters 2010 Harley Davidson Invite.  She finished third on floor exercise at the OGC Invitational. Unfortunately, at the Level 9 WI State Championships Kiera injured herself on her very first competitive event (pulled hip flexor on vault).  Despite a lot of pain, she chose to tough it out and still managed to qualify to Regionals, earn her highest all-around score for that season, and place sixth on uneven bars and balance beam.  Kiera was still battling that injury at the Level 9 Regionals and was unable to do her usual vault. She decided to proceed with competing all four events but do a lower start value vault. Kiera ended up having her highest beam score for that season and placed fifth on balance beam at those Regional Championships.

In 2011, as a first-year level 10 gymnast, Kiera placed second on vault at the WCGC Winter Luau. She also earned silver medals on vault at Orlando's Sand Dollar/Whitlow Invitational and Chicago's Midwest Open. Kiera placed third on floor at the Blizzard Invitational.  At the WI State Championships, she finished fifth on floor, sixth all-around and qualified for Regionals.  Kiera took ninth place on vault at the 2011 Regional Championships.

Kiera started her 2012 season placing third in the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise at the level 10 Team Spirit meet.  In Las Vegas at the Lady Luck Invitational, she finished third on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise, and fifth in the all-around.  Kiera earned a gold medal on floor exercise, silver medal on balance beam, and third place all-around at the 2012 Blizzard Invitational. At the Harley Davidson Invite, she took second on uneven bars, third on vault and floor exercise. Kiera's performance at the OGC Invitational placed her first on vault, second in the all-around and floor exercise, and third on uneven bars.  Kiera had a great meet at the WI State Championships winning first place on balance beam, second place in the all-around and vault, third place on uneven bars, and fifth place on floor exercise.  Kiera finished her 2012 level 10 season at the Regional Championships where she again placed ninth on vault.

2013 was Kiera's third year competing as a level 10 gymnast and she had a very successful season. She started her season off strong winning first place all-around at the Team Spirit meet.  At that competition, she also took first place on vault and uneven bars, second on balance beam, and third on floor exercise.  In Orlando, at the Sand Dollar/Whitlow Invitational, Kiera earned gold medals in the all-around and on floor exercise, a silver medal on vault, third place on uneven bars, and fourth on balance beam.  Kiera then traveled to Chicago, IL for the IGI Chicago Style where she again won first place in the all-around and vault, and second on uneven bars and balance beam.  For her fourth competition, Kiera traveled back to Chicago, IL for the Midwest Open.  There she suffered a small concussion during a fall on her first event, bars.  It was not discovered until the end of the meet that she had a concussion.  Despite her compromised status, she competed all four events and took second place on her last event which was vault. At her next meet, the OGC Invitational, Kiera finished second all-around and placed on every event:  first on vault and floor exercise, second on balance beam, and fifth on uneven bars.  For the 2013 WI State Championships, Kiera again took home a silver medal in the all-around.  She also earned second place on vault, third on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise, and qualified to the Regional Championships.  At Regionals, Kiera qualified to the Junior Olympic National Invitational Tournament (JO-NIT) by placing eighth on vault, ninth on uneven bars, and tenth all-around.  Kiera concluded her 2013 Level 10 season finishing in seventh place on both uneven bars and balance beam, tenth on vault, and eleventh all-around at the JO-NIT.

In 2014 Kiera was a fourth year Level 10 gymnast.  She had another strong start to her season strong winning the all-around, vault and floor at the M&M Challenge.   At the Sand Dollar/Whitlow Invitational, she again earned a gold medal for her floor routine and also won silver for vault. Kiera's performance at Midwest Twister's Harley Davidson meet secured a second place beam and third place vault.   The fourth meet of the season was at her home gym, the OGC Invitational.  There she won first place on two events and in the all-around.  Next Kiera headed to Green Bay Packers territory and the Lambeau Leap where she swept her session winning first all-around and on every event except for bars, where she placed second. For the third straight year, Kiera won silver all-around at the 2014 WI State Championships!  At those championships she also earned third on bars, fourth on floor and fifth on vault.  Kiera had an excellent Region 4 Championships and achieved her goal of earning a spot at JO Nationals!  At Regionals, she won silver on beam, sixth place all-around, fourth on vault and fifth on floor.  Kiera was thrilled to compete all four events at 2014 JO Nationals and had a very memorable and valuable experience.

Currently, Kiera is competing during this 2015 season as a fifth year level 10 gymnast. Updates of her meets are noted in this website's "News" section.

She continues to train about 22 hours per week at Oshkosh Gymnastics Center in Wisconsin under coaches Trisha Geddes, Taylor and Josh Ames. She continues to perfect her current skills and add more difficulty to her routines.  She is working very hard to achieve her long-term goals - earning a place on a Division 1 college gymnastics team and an athletic or academic scholarship.
